93-Year-Old Retired Astronaut Buzz Aldrin Marries His 'Longtime Love' (cnn.com) 52

Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, who became the second person to ever set foot on the moon in 1969, following crewmate Neil Armstrong, married his "longtime love" on his 93rd birthday on Friday.
The former astronaut announced his nuptials on Twitter.... "We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers...." Aldin also thanked fans for their birthday wishes in another Friday tweet. "It means a lot and I hope to continue serving a greater cause for many more revolutions around the sun," he wrote.

Dr Anca Faur has a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Ok, it's no longer en vogue that people should have some claim to fame, today you can be famous for being famous and drinking kangaroo jizz. But back in the good old days, celebrities actually earned that status.

Well, if there's one person who didn't just "win the astronaut lottery", it's Aldrin. His doctorate thesis was titled "Line of sight guidance techniques for manned orbital rendezvous" (sample can be found here [si.edu]).
You want that guy among your astronauts, if he can somehow manage to get through the physical exams.
