But in my opinion, cutting science news sites have to have the edge, and there are times when science on slashdot [slashdot.org] is not as fast as the news on eureka alert [eurekalert.org] or for that matter, the science and tech areas of the bbc news site [bbc.co.uk]. Of course, Nature [nature.com] has had a leading role for scientists in the news area for years.

You still can't beat some of the old work horses such as the National Library of Medicine's MedLine/PUBMED service (http://www.bmn.com/general/991) A fantastic resource used almost daily by working scientists, and fairly accessible to Joe Public.
