HelmetCam Screen Shots 3

calebjc writes "I was amazed at the recent NASA TV live feed of astronauts fixing the ISS solar panel. It was the first mission using HelmetCams. I took a bunch of screen shots and wrote up a little piece this weekend. I think this is a giant step for space media!" I just watched the shuttle mission land on NASA's broadcast, and now it's sitting on the runway and venting steam or something. Even after so many years it's amazing to think that that brick actually flies.

  • I know you are just trolling, but I'm going to respond anyway.

At least with the helmet cams, we can see what all they are doing with our money better than we could before. I support anything that makes NASA more "for the people" rather than just a lucky few people who get to go on a joy ride now and then.

Instead of just saying "nasa sucks" why don't you suggest something positive that they should be doing. Name some of those "other areas" that they should be spending focusing on.

I do agree with you in thinking NASA is doing a pretty crappy job overall. They seem to look to congress for guidence and leadership for what projects they should pursue rather than listening to scientists and figuring out what is really practical and then *telling* congress what they are going to do.
  • I'm waiting for my cardboard solar arrays from the Module of the Month Club to arrive, so I can play with the pulleys and fix the things like the astronauts did! Then I will hang it over my cube, along with the other modules.

    Next month, science lab! Eeeeehaaaaa!

  • Yes, we would all like to see NASA doing amazing things, but you forget who runs NASA ... Congress. NASA is constantly worried about funding, and if the majority of society doesn't want them to go to space anymore, then it would become a big problem for NASA. They must give something to society, now, since most stuff they develop or theorize now won't hit the market for about 10 years. I think the helmet cams are an awesome idea, it makes me and other people enjoy what NASA is doing. You should consider becoming a part of their community outreach programs, like answering questions over email from kids and what not.

To program is to be.
