NYT Debuts Digits, the Math Version of Wordle (gamespot.com) 17
The New York Times added a new daily puzzle game to its library in the form of Digits. GameSpot reports: This collection of math conundrums tasks you with reaching a designated number by using six numbers that you're free to multiply, divide, subtract, or add up to reach the final result, so long as your process doesn't create any fractions or negative numbers.
Currently in beta and only available for this week, there'll be five of these math puzzles to solve every day. These aren't one-and-done puzzles like Wordle, and depending on the path you choose to solve one of these math mysteries, you'll be awarded 1-3 star ratings. If Digits proves to be popular with its readers, the New York Times will then start work on the further development of the game.

For those outside the UK, Countdown is a long-running (for 40 years!) Channel 4 UK TV quiz show that has always included a Digits-style section as one of its rounds. The winner is the contestant who can get closest to the randomly generated "answer", with a nice twist that the female presenter who lays out the number tiles also has a go at the puzzle. Individual game rules are not protected, beyond simple word-for-word embodiment of the rules (i.e. can't copy the written rules verbatim in some circumstances, but you can reword them and leave them meaning the exact same thing as in the original form).
I don;t know about a COLLECTION of games, you might be able to protect a gameshow's specific format and sequence of games, like say Wheel of Fortune, or Countdown, but I suspect the bar would be very, very low for someone to replicate without any possibility

I played wordle daily for months (Score:2, Troll)
Then, one day, I just forgot. Then the next day I wasn't in the mood for the game... and it went from there.
Now I don't think I've played wordle even once since last fall.
