China To Launch Uncrewed Cargo Ship To Tiangong Station (theguardian.com) 53
China is preparing to launch an uncrewed cargo ship to its Tiangong "Heavenly palace" space station in preparation for the arrival of its second human crew this autumn. The Guardian reports: The Long March 7 rocket was delivered to the Wenchang space launch site in Hainan on 16 August, where it will undergo final assembly and testing. It will carry the Tianzhou 3 cargo ship into orbit sometime in mid to late September. Simultaneously, at the Jiuquan satellite launch centre in the Gobi desert, the Shenzhou 13 mission is being readied to transport the crew of three astronauts. A launch is planned for October and the astronauts are expected to stay in orbit until April 2022. The flight plan of a cargo ship followed by an astronaut vehicle matches the pattern of the first crew from earlier this year. Those three astronauts are still on Tiangong. They arrived in June and are expected to return to Earth in September.

Yes that's a recent claim by a Canadian scholar but it's certainly not the mainstream view and it has a long way to go to overturn the early commentators.

That's funny because I am in China and tonight I am going to party with both native and non-native Muslims (thought they will be a minority of those I am with). They currently seem far more concerned about Afghanistan than Xinjiang. Which by the way brings up a funny question, what percentage of your countries population is Muslim... oh that's right China per capita and total population of Muslims is larger. Rudimentary Watson. They are posting on /. , using English, and pushing a westernized description of what's happening in Xinjiang. This pretty much rules out all of Africa, the Middle East, India, and Asia. Of which the remaining countries predominately have a significantly lower population of Muslims.
That is, if you have a brain you can generally make a very reasonable guess about a person's culture and country based on how they speak on the internet.

I don't need to imagine anything because there are first hand accounts of the nasty actions of the Chinese state. Constant surveillance, destructions of the mosques. Uygher families are so scared of the state that they can't talk with family members that have fled China.

I think that all of Chinese people are repressed by the gov't, they have to be careful what they say in any forum. Chinese state treatment of Uyghers has been classed by many as genocide and it is outright racist and bigoted.

The US is actively decreasing the pop. of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, etc. most who are Muslim.
They won't wipe them out for a few generations, but that their every intention. To see how that plays out, think about what happened in Afghanistan. Afghanistan was being US-fied and in a few generations, there was to only be scattered groups of real Afghanistan left after the usurper US got through with them.

I literally live in Qinghai, bordering both Xinjiang and Tibet. This region is traditionally Tibetan and called the Amdo region. So while most these people are talking out there asses, I am here making a life, understanding this context through empathy for all the people involved.
Xinjiang is being assimilated and aggressively because they are a minority which has pushed for more independence. The same of HK and of Tibet. These regions tried to break from a regime that pushes unity with an iron fist but that
