jnaujok writes: The Ninth Circuit court has declared that attaching a GPS tracker to your car, as it sits in your driveway, or, by extension on a public street, and then using it to monitor every one of your movements, is totally legal, and can be performed by the police without needing a warrant. So, if you live in the Western United States, big brother has arrived.

  • You think it has only just arrived?

    Obviously criminals make a lot of money, so they can park their cars in garages, and there for cant be bugged, right ?!?

  • Two comments:

    First, I initially mis-read the headline as saying "...Declared Illegal" and I thought to myself "well, yeah, duh, of course that's illegal." Even as jaded as I am, I am still shocked at this decision. It's appalling.

    Second, I wonder if the courts would recognize, in lieu of a big gated fence, a sign reading "No trespassing by government officials, please".
