TaeKwonDood writes "Sure, all paper is made of cellulose but paper processing makes large, fragile fibers that break pretty easily. At the nanoscale level, those same cellulose fibers in papers are quite strong and researchers in Sweden have kept the fibers small, resulting in 'nanopaper' with almost twice the tensile strength of cast iron.
Plus, cellulose is the is the most abundant organic compound on the planet, meaning it is cheap to use compared to other exotic, expensive-to-produce options. Take that, carbon nanotubes!"
