Submission Milky Way Twice Size Previously Thought

Peter writes: The University of Sydney, Australia—Scientists resolving to check the standard numbers everybody uses have discovered that the Milky Way Galaxy is 12,000 light-years thick rather than the previously thought 6,000, using data available freely on the Internet and analysing it in a spreadsheet.
