redletterdave writes "Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975 and was named the most charitable living American in 2011, has donated $300 million to The Allen Institute for Brain Science, based in Seattle. The Allen Institute is launching a 10-year plan to expand research into the inner workings of the brain and how to best treat brain-related disorders like autism, depression, Alzheimer's disease, brain injuries, and and other conditions. Allen's $300 million contribution will reportedly sustain this program for the first four years." Link to Original Source
