mikejuk (1801200) writes "It may sound boring or esoteric but the latest break though in volume rendering means that 3D body scans can be visualized interactively. You guessed it the speedup comes from the use of the GPU but there is also some clever ray tracing involved. The results are amazing, if a little gory, to look at and might even allow experts to get to know the inside of you or a jet engine for that matter so much better."
