+ - Linux Mint Will Adopt Gnome 3-> 1

Submitted by sfcrazy
sfcrazy (1542989) writes "Linux Mint uses the older Gnome 2x branch and thus is free from such problems. But, it creates a bigger problem as well. Since The Gnome team is abandoning Gnome 2 branch it will be harder for the Linux Mint team to maintain support for it. The team has thus decided that in the next version of Linux Mint 12, they will continue to support Gnome 2, but will also introduce Gnome 3."

    That's just disappointing, assuming 3 will eventually supplant 2 in Mint. Gnome 3 just has so many little quirks that are absurdly annoying if you 'upgraded' to it from 2. Here's hoping Mate will get picked up by more people.
